about

This is interesting to me because it's part of an exercise in reduction.

The idea was to try and do this song as minimally as it felt good to us. This version was one we practiced live because it was a lot easier to play than the one we usually play. Primarily because the one we play starts with a guitar and then an acapella vocal, no drums. If you've ever tried playing that sort of thing live, where drums come in later, you probably notice that it's not that easy. The drummer is the person who decides the tempo. Leave it to the Guitarrist and who knows what will happen.

It turns out this version works better on the dance floor but wasn’t good for live. Which is important- the dancefloor- because the original job of the song was to write a song about how money influences politics that you can dance to. So the lyrics evolved a lot from the original name the track had- “glue” to the break line which pulled the song together for us

“Every time you can see the signs of defeat- just go where the money goes”

Which was an afterthought and came in right before it was mixed. But it did suddenly make the song make sooooo much more sense. And it provided a counter to the melody I really liked.

lyrics

Verse 1
Just go where the money goes
I see you on the CNN,
Right when you walk in
You’re a movie star
Rock you like the KGB
Between you and me
You so senator
Nobody writes a bill like you
In committee like a churchmouse
Bag of graft Like a paper sack, when you due
When you back from your summer house
Baby Baby

Chorus
Go is the word
Unseen and unheard
I need to see where the money
The path is alive
The system’s a lie
You never see where the money goes
Go fight and survive
We should electrify
Be the Genocide
Of the times
Go Fight with your mind
We the assembly line
We the proving ground
We the Hive

Verse 2
We all got everything we need
We’re all guaranteed
To be innocent
Let me stop you right before you start
presume my part
In this indictment
Get away
Wide stance we’re cruising around again
They say we’re untouchable
Red Flags they wave we condescend
You know we’re unstoppable
Baby baby

Chorus
Go is the word
Unseen and unheard
I need to see where the money
The path is alive
The system’s a lie
You never see where the money goes
Go fight and survive
We should electrify
Be the Genocide
Of the times
Go Fight with your mind
We the assembly line
We the proving ground
We the Hive

Break
Every time that you see the signs of defeat
Just go where the money goes

about

Go Fight Chicago, Illinois

Founded by industrial vocalist/percussionist Jim Marcus, machine-like drummer Vince McAley, and multi-instrumentalist Dan Evans, Go Fight is
possibly the first or second best Electroscuzz Band playing in the Chicago Area, integrating the noisy politics and freedom of Industrial with the relentless dancefloor mantras
of EBM, the synthetic pump of electrohouse, and the electrical power of dubstep.
